Trivia Question❓

What is the world record for the longest recorded flight of a chicken?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Residents of Cherokee County who love the outdoors may soon see changes at their favorite state parks after a recent state audit spotlighted funding and operational trends.

The audit of Georgia’s State Parks & Historic Sites Division revealed parks now generate about half their operating costs, with the other half still funded by the state.

For years, the daily vehicle entry fee has remained at $5, despite rising expenses—hinting that increased parking or seasonal fees could come soon.

While no state parks are located directly in Cherokee County, several—like Sweetwater Creek—are a short drive away, shaping outdoor recreation for local families.

By visiting parks, supporting improvements, and staying alert for possible fee increases, residents help strengthen the case for future investment and maintenance across the region.

Active participation and advocacy ensure these green spaces thrive for everyone in Cherokee County.

Cherokee County is home to plenty of quirky tales, but none quite as bizarre as the story of Hercule, India’s most famous parrot, who helped solve a murder in Agra.

When Neelam Sharma and her faithful dog were found dead, investigators hit a wall—until her husband, Vijay, noticed Hercule’s wild reaction whenever nephew Ashutosh came up.

This sharp-tongued greenwing began screeching and acting up anytime Ashutosh was near, prompting Vijay to alert police.

Officers quickly saw the pattern—every time Ashutosh’s name was mentioned, Hercule sounded the alarm.

When confronted, Ashutosh confessed to the crime, proving that ignoring a talkative parrot can be criminally foolish.

The tale serves as a local warning: In Cherokee County, keep an eye on the family pet—especially if it’s got something to say.
